CTPAT Certification for U.S. Importers and Supply Chain Security Practice Exam

CTPAT treats third-party logistics providers as legitimate partners in securing the supply chain, so they can become CTPAT members and must meet the same security criteria to support overall supply chain security. This means a 3PL’s facilities, processes, personnel, and information systems are evaluated and periodically revalidated to ensure controls such as restricted access, cargo integrity, surveillance, and incident response are in place. Including 3PLs extends the importer’s security program through the logistics network they rely on, reducing risk at points outside the importer’s own operations. The program isn’t limited to U.S.-based providers or to sea shipments; it covers global 3PLs across multiple modes of transportation, including air and land.
